New Golf Course in the Silver Coast by SEVE BALLESTEROS
Originally a joint venture between MSF and the Oceanico Group, Royal Obidos is now solely owned by MSF Tur.IM, part of the MSF Group, which has been around for over 37 years. With the weakened economy Oceanico decided to concentrate on their projects in the Algarve, an area they are familiar with, as they have developed over 7 resorts in the area, as well as owning 9 championship golf courses. As such MSF bought the remaining 50 per cent of shares now holding the entire capital.
With works going full speed ahead, Royal Obidos is now projected to open May 2012. The construction of the 18 hole championship golf course designed by Severiano Ballesteros has already started, and anyone driving by can begin to make out the design of the course and some of the holes. One can also get a clear indication as to the stunning views one will enjoy on this course. As well as the villas and apartments set for construction, included in the master plan is a 44 room five star hotel, served by a spa and conference room.
With this project under way, by mid 2012 the Silver Coast will boast over 5 top class golf courses to choose from, including the renown Praia del Rey Gold Course, considered one of the best, if not the best, course in Portugal.
