Bombarral and the Portuguese Republic
The 25th April 2010 marked the 100th anniversary of the Portuguese Republic.
In Bombarral, one of the Silver Coast's main inland cities, this mark was celebrated with the inauguration of two exhibitions : 100 Memories of the Republic and Centenary School Works, which can be seen in the Municipal Museum until the 31st May 2010.
Apart from these exhibitions, the Town Hall prepared a number of activities with the Centenary of the Portuguese Republic in view. After the inauguration of the exhibitions, there followed a role playing, dating back to 1910, and acted out by the amateur Theatre group of Delgada.
Among other celebratory actions, an ecological version of the Portuguese flag made by apples was offered by the Schools Fernao do Po, a neighbouring village wich is part of Bombarral Town Council.
